The End
2210
Humanity is at war with an alien species after first-contact negotiations went terribly wrong.
“The Edge” is a massive, walled and domed megacity located in what used to be the Arctic. It was founded in 2033 by a tech genius and billionaire, Miles Cadave, who sought to create a utopia.
The Edge is composed of massive skyscrapers and is, on the surface, a perfect, clean and highly advanced city.
Below The Edge is a gritty underground city known as The End, which serves as the home for The Edge’s human labourers, poorer civilians and undesirables, known as the “Bronzes”. The End is home to criminals of all kinds, and is known for its drug trade, particularly of ‘Spark’ - a cocaine-like drug that makes the user invulnerable to pain or negative emotions. It is also known for its black market tech trade, with jailbroken androids and illegal synthetic implants being common.
OF THE EDGE
Denizens of The Edge prefer to pretend that The End doesn’t exist. The elite and wealthy citizens [often just called “Silvers”] of The Edge enjoy extreme luxury, with all their needs taken care of by robotic assistants and AI.
Extreme hedonism is common - official city-endorsed orgies, lavish parties and extreme entertainment like android death matches are frequent affairs.Silvers often have at least one personal android companion. Androids are not considered human or sentient and are treated as possessions and tools. The “Golden Family” of The Edge acts as the ruling body for the megacity. The head of this family is a clone of Miles Cadave, founder and president of The Edge.Little is known about the Golden Family other than the fact President Cadave chooses one Silver a year to “join” the family at a grand event.
What this entails is unknown.Inside The Edge, news about the outside world is restricted, with propaganda making most believe that the world outside is completely inhospitable due to pollution and global warming.
